Discover Pot House 蝎子王 羊蝎子 火锅 牛骨 牛杂, a Chinese hot pot restaurant at 162-164 High St, Kew VIC 3101, Australia. Located in Melbourne’s eastern suburb of Kew, this restaurant focuses on slow-cooked, meat-centered hot pots built around lamb spine, beef spine, beef cuts, and richly flavored broths. For diners interested in distinctive local dining experiences beyond conventional hot pot, the concept offers something notably different. The restaurant can also be contacted at +61 432 841 319.
The centerpiece of the Pot House 蝎子王 羊蝎子 火锅 牛骨 牛杂 menu is its bone-based hot pot selection. Rather than concentrating entirely on thinly sliced raw meats cooked briefly at the table, several dishes feature meat and bones that have been slowly cooked to develop tenderness and a deeper broth. The Lamb Spine Hot Pot is one of the restaurant’s most frequently praised specialties, pairing meaty lamb spine pieces with a savory soup that customers describe as rich and aromatic. Reviews particularly mention the tenderness of the lamb and the satisfying flavor produced around the bones.
Another standout is the Signature Beef Spine & Sirloin Hot Pot. This dish combines beef spine with sirloin for a hearty shared meal, making it well suited to groups looking for a substantial dinner. Customer feedback repeatedly highlights the restaurant’s slow-cooked meats, with one diner describing the hot pot as having “flavours [that] burst in your mouth.” The menu extends beyond hot pot with options such as Spicy Crispy Potato, Special Chicken Wings, fried rice, chicken gizzard skewers, fried milk, ice jelly, and Double-Skin Milk Custard.
Pricing falls broadly into the moderate hot-pot range, with dining estimates commonly around A$40–60 per person depending on dishes and group size. Individual menu items provide cheaper additions: fried milk and several snacks are listed around A$11, while Spicy Crispy Potato and chicken wings are around A$15. Delivery and pickup options are also available, adding flexibility for diners who prefer eating at home.
Inside, the emphasis is on casual, communal dining rather than formal presentation. Hot pot naturally encourages groups to gather around the table, share dishes, and take time over the meal. That makes Pot House 蝎子王 羊蝎子 火锅 牛骨 牛杂 especially suitable for dinner with friends, family meals, or cooler evenings when a steaming pot of broth feels particularly appealing.
Desserts provide a useful contrast to the savory menu. Double-Skin Milk Custard, ice jelly, and other sweeter choices offer a lighter finish after the richer meat dishes. Reviews have specifically praised the milk custard alongside the signature lamb hot pot.
Among the many best restaurants in Kew, Pot House 蝎子王 羊蝎子 火锅 牛骨 牛杂 stands apart through its focus on lamb spine, beef bones, slow cooking, and communal Chinese hot pot dining. If you enjoy robust broths, tender bone-in meats, and meals designed for sharing, it is an inviting Kew restaurant to add to your dining list.

A great spot for lamb spine hotpot! The lamb was incredibly tender and full of flavour, and the mushroom chicken soup was rich and comforting. We also loved the traditional lu zhu, plum drink, and the free ice cream to finish. No weekend surcharge and buy 1 get 1 free beers make it even better. Will definitely be back!
Had a great meal here tonight. We ordered the lamb spine hot pot and the portion was very generous, easily enough for two people. The broth was rich, flavourful and nicely spicy without being overwhelming. The meat was tender and fell off the bone. We also tried the chilli century egg, which was incredibly tasty and perfect with rice, plus the stinky tofu and intestines dish which was full of flavour and well cooked. The handmade milk teas were a nice surprise too - refreshing and a great match with the food. Service was friendly, and it was convenient with free parking across the road. Also appreciated that there was no weekend or public holiday surcharge. Definitely worth visiting if you enjoy authentic Chinese flavours. Will be back again!
Great food and awesome service! The beef scorpion pot was super flavorful and cooked perfectly, and the fried chicken wings were so crispy. Love that there are no surcharge fees on weekends or holidays. Highly recommend!
Had such a great experience at Scorpion King in Kew! The highlight was definitely the beef scorpion hot pot – the broth was rich, flavourful, and had the perfect level of spice (not overwhelmingly spicy but very addictive). The beef was incredibly tender and fell off the bone easily, making it super satisfying to eat. The side dishes were also really fresh and well presented. The tofu skin and mushrooms soaked up the soup beautifully, and the cold sides like cucumber and edamame helped balance out the richness of the hot pot. We also tried their dessert at the end (ice jelly with red beans and mango), which was the perfect way to cool down after the spicy meal. Overall, great food, nice presentation, and a fun dining experience. Perfect for sharing with friends. Would definitely come back!
With Melbourne getting colder lately, I’ve been craving something warm and comforting - and this lamb spine hotpot totally hit the spot A friend recommended this place in Kew, saying people even drive out from the city just for it. After trying it, I get why The lamb spine hotpot was definitely the highlight. Big, generous pieces of lamb, super tender and full of flavour - the meat basically falls off the bone. The broth gets richer the longer it cooks, and I highly recommend having it with rice Pour some of that broth over the rice and it’s honestly so good. We also tried a few sides and nothing disappointed. The braised pork intestine with fire-baked bread was rich and comforting, and the “double stinky” dish with stinky tofu and pork intestine is a must for anyone who loves bold flavours. Their handmade strawberry cheese foam drink was also really refreshing and helped balance out the richness. It’s a little far from the city, but the value is great - a huge pot of lamb spine is under $70, portions are generous, no weekend or public holiday surcharge, and beers are buy one get one free. Definitely a place I’d come back to!
Had a great meal at Pot House Kew! The Beef Spine Hot Pot was rich, flavourful, and the portions were very generous. The broth was delicious and got even more fragrant as it simmered. We also enjoyed the fried rice and refreshing drinks. Friendly service, great value, and free ice cream after the meal was a nice bonus. Highly recommend!
Loved the new flavor Mixed Mushrooms and Chicken Steam Hot Pot. The chicken broth was incredibly rich and comforting. Crunchy Tripe was a standout too. Great food, generous portions and no weekend surcharge is always a bonus!
The ultimate winter comfort food in Melbourne! Stopped by Pot House in Kew and it was exactly what we needed to cure the winter blues. We got Combo No. 3 with the simmered lamb bone casserole hot pot, and the flavor was incredible. You can really tell they simmer their broth for 8 hours-it’s so rich and fragrant (not overly salty or heavy at all) The portions are super generous and way better value and quality than standard Malatang or regular hot pot. Also ordered the lamb skewers, green grape jasmine tea, and sweet milk custard with osmanthus flowers for dessert. Plus ice cream at the end is such a nice bonus! Cozy vibes, healthy & natural ingredients, and friendly service. Will definitely be coming back with a bigger group to share!
